* Broad spectrum anticonvulsant
* More potent in blocking pentylenetetrazol seizures then in modifying maximal electroshock.
* Inhibit the establishment of chronic experimental seizure foci & prevents kindling.
* Action is by potentiating the inhibitory transmitter GABA (Neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid)
* Prevents degradation and neuronal of GABA
